Great.
Translation
It was slightly chilly, but the combination of my down jacket and cardigan was just right for the weather.
For breakfast, I headed to Eric Kayser, which was close to the hotel. I ordered a latte, a pain au chocolat, and a juice. Since there were no Parisians dining in at the time, I quickly ate and left the shop.
In the morning, it was Eiffel Tower hunting day. Before heading out, I thoroughly read a beautiful book I found at a bookstore. The book introduced some great photo spots of Paris, and I decided to visit some of them.
How to ride a bus:
Enter through the front door, tap your card, and press the Stop button when your stop is announced. Enjoy the view of the sky!
How to ride the metro:
If using an app, tap your card at the gate, then move forward without waiting for the door or bar to open. When exiting, walk forward, and the door will open automatically. Always carry your bag in front!
The Eiffel Tower peeking out from between the buildings is just too beautiful. It’s become such a tourist spot. There was even a photo spot marked on Google Maps, and souvenir vendors near the Eiffel Tower were walking around selling mini Eiffel Tower keychains. This angle is sooo photogenic.
“The next photo spot was a lovely café with the Eiffel Tower in the background. When we arrived, there was a truck parked around there, and I was thinking, ‘When is this truck going to move?’ It turned out the police officers who were on duty were thinking the same thing. We started chatting, and soon after, the truck moved. I quickly snapped a picture, and we high-fived each other with a ‘Yeah!’ before moving on to the next spot. The police had such a great sense of humor!”
Next, I headed to the Chapel of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. In 1830, Sister Catherine Labouré of that church received a vision from the Virgin Mary, which led to the creation of the medal. It is said that the medal was distributed during an epidemic, and the illness began to subside. Since then, it has become famous worldwide for bringing miracles and happiness to those who hold it. The medal can be used as a pendant, and it is believed to be even more powerful when given as a gift. I bought a few as souvenirs for the ladies around me who may be going through tough times. May many good things happen to these hardworking ladies!
Feeling hungry, I decided to have lunch at a café. I found one near a church. Since I thought I might get turned away if I arrived during peak lunch hours, I went in early (around 11:30). I ordered foie gras and lemonade. I finished everything within 30 minutes and left the café.
(I had the next itinerary, so I could only spend 30 minutes there.)
The foie gras was rich and flavorful. You don’t get to eat it that often in Japan, do you? I had originally planned to order something else, but the portion was too big to finish in a short time, so I chickened out and chose this dish. I’m sure I must have looked like a strange Japanese person to the staff. (^_^*)
In the afternoon, I headed to the Opéra. Since I had purchased my ticket in advance, I was able to enter smoothly at my reserved time. The Palais Garnier is an opera house in Paris, the capital of France, and one of the venues for performances by the Paris National Opera.
Be sure to visit the Grand Foyer! This room is 18 meters high, 154 meters long, and 13 meters wide, and it was designed to function as the reception hall for Parisian high society. The ceiling paintings are also beautiful.
I came back for a visit because when I first came here 8 years ago, it was sooo beautiful that I literally trembled. And once again, it’s so stunning that it makes me tremble!
For dinner, I’m heading to a bistro a bit early again to have duck confit. Why is it that I always end up choosing duck when I come to Paris?
Since it was an early dinner, I stopped by a supermarket for some shopping and returned to the hotel. I walked 26,502 steps today in flat shoes, so my feet hurt, and I’m going to bed early.
I walked 26,000 steps today, so that means the calories I ate are now “zero”, right?
Thank you for your time!
The journey continues…
